American actress/singer-songwriter/fashion designer Taryn Manning was born in Falls Church (Virginia). She is the daughter of musician Bill Manning and his wife Sharyn, who divorced when she was two months old. She grew up in Tucson (Arizona) at a trailer park with her brother Kellin and single mother. She moved a couple of months later to Tucson with her brother and mother to escape from her alcoholic philandering father. She also went back to Virginia to visit with her father on occasion. She and her mother moved to San Diego when she was 12 and two years later, her father committed suicide. From there it was up to Hollywood to start her budding career as an actress and singer. Her brother Kellin joined them in California a bit later. As a teenager, she worked as a waitress and a barista to help support her family.

She started in april 2002 an relation with American actor Clifton Collins Jr. and the relation lasts until january 2011. There are rumours that she had an relation with actor/producer/entrepreneur/artist and successful fashion designer Jeanine Heller from 2013 until 2014.

In spite of the family's financial troubles, her mother was able to enroll her in karate, dance, and acting classes. She's also a champion dancer who started dancing when she was twelve years old. She is trained in kickboxing, tae bo and has a 3rd degree black belt in karate. She was also the Arizona state karate champion once.

She forms together with her brother Kellin the band ''Boomkat''. She's the vocalist of the band who also writes numbers. She is the founder of Little Vanilla Records, which is the record company of Boomkat. Their first album was released in september 2002. She decided to get more serious with music when she was fired from a movie. She is co-owner of the clothing brand Born Uniqorn together with best girlfriend Tara Jane. The brand was founded in fall 2005 and has hosted many benefits for charity organizations in Los Angeles. Her fashion icons are Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett and Kate Winslet. She was honored with "Film Fashion Visionary" award at the 2009 Bel Air Film Festival.
